"The Canadian Institute of Forestry / Institut forestier du Canada (CIF/IFC) has been the voice of forest practitioners since 1908. Members are foresters, forest technologists, forest technicians, educators, scientists and others with a professional interest in forestry. The Institute’s mission is “to provide national leadership in forestry, promote competence among forestry professionals, and foster public awareness of Canadian and international forestry issues.”

The Newfoundland and Labrador section presently has 91 active members located throughout the province,   plus 2 corporate members:

1.       The Dept. of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

2.       Newfoundland and Labrador Lumber Producers Association

Our membership includes men and women employed in a diverse array of occupations all related to the sustainable management of our natural resources. Including forestry, academics in colleges and universities to municipal and government employees and  industry personnel.

The Newfoundland and Labrador section sponsors and participates in a number of activities, including:

• CIF Mini-Forums - Information transfer to section members of current research and management initiatives

• Annual CIF Section Meetings - Resolution development
